Last summer, Inge of SHOEdesignmakers was visiting the Latvian capital Riga. This beautiful city is having a long history with an unexpected amount of historical sites and the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings you’ve ever seen. But Riga is also the domicile of two of our designmakers; Inga Šabovica and Sanita Avotiņa. A great opportunity to meet these two ambitious women, and take a look behind the scenes of their wonderful shoe label SAZ.
Keeping up the high standard
The SAZ workshop is located in an office unit in a suburban area of Riga. In this workshop the collections are being designed, next to the small factory where craftsmen are manufacturing the playful and colourful footwear. In a separate, low-noise space, the wooden heels are being made. All fully supervised by Inga and Sanita, who aim to keep up the high standard of their collections at all times.
SAZ’ Autumn/Winter #16/17 collection has been inspired by Slavic Folklore. SHOEdesignmakers has selected 5 beautiful styles for you. One of these styles is the amazing over-knee Starling boot, worn by Sanita at the AW16/17 launch party.
